7. Working with the devices
If you already have the remote desktop of your simubox open in front of you, let's try to connect to our simulated devices.
Simulation Packages
By default, we provide special packages for each training model in our range. Inside this folder you will find, among other things:
Device_settings - Default settings for simulated devices for a given model. You can upload them to the device via ToolKit software.
Documentation - Documentation of the entire application of a particular model, including device specifications.
WTOOL -Files to run the Toolkit for a given simulation.
Note that this is read only folder, so you shouldn't edit anything. Treat this folder as a backup, in case you want to use our defaults. However, you can always copy the corresponding folder to the workspace folder and edit fully whatever you want there.
Exercise:
Copy the EG3200P1_1_XXX folder from the Simulation-Pacakges(Ready Only) folder and place it in the Workspace folder.
Toolkit
ToolKit is a standard program that allows you to communicate with Woodward devices. For the purposes of this tutorial, we assume that you know how to use it, and here we will show you how to connect to the device.
Double click on the icon.
The Toolkit takes about 1-2 minutes to fully load after launch, you will notice that it is ready when you can press the Open button.
Press the Open button and then open the Workspace > Copied Simulation Package > WTOOL > WTOOL file for EG3200XTP1.
Then, on the top bar, press the connect button.
The IP addresses of the devices should match the list of devices in Web SimHMI under the device control tab.
For our tutorial, there is only one device on this model with the address 192.168.1.1. Make sure the checkbox next to it is checked and then press the connect button.

For models with more devices, you will be able to easily switch between them
For models with different types of devices, you will have to open the Toolkit separately for each of them
Congrats! Now you can see the status of the simulation from the device and configure it freely.
For models with more devices, you will see them all and can easily switch between views.
VNC Client
VNC Client allows you to see the interface of the device as if it were lying on your desk. Let's see how it works by double clicking on the icon.
Press the gear icon to open the settings.
In the IP Addres space, enter the IP address of the first device. In our case, again 192.168.1.1 and apply changes
After a while, the device should be detected. Then simply click on it.
Congrats! Now you can interact directly with the device.
For models with more devices, you will be able to easily switch between them.
